eJournal User Guide: How to Install
- You MUST have the java runtime environment installed.
If you do not have it installed on your machine, go to
the Sun Java web site and
download the Java Runtime Environment version 1.3. Follow the instructions provided by Sun for
correct installation of the Java runtime environment.
If you do have it installed on your machine, version 1.3
is preferred. eJournal will not function with versions prior to 1.3. (The technical
details of this lie in the handling of Swing components which make up eJournal). I haven't tested
this with 1.4 yet, so I couldn't tell you whether or not it will work correctly. Let me know if you
encounter any difficulties with it!
- Two files should have come as part of the eJournal package:
- eJournal.chm -- the user guide/help file for the eJournal
- eJournalSetup.exe -- the installation program installs the following files:
- eJournal.jar -- the main executable program
- A desktop shortcut is also installed
The eJournal files are installed in the root drive.
- Double-click on the eJournal shortcut on your desktop to verify correct installation.
